Hello! I am seeking funding to support a ground-breaking AV installation which attempts to uncover the hidden code that lies within the fabric of the universe, exploring the connection of sacred geometry and music as found within the Fibonacci number sequence.
As a Music and Management Masters student at Leeds University, The Code (an AV installation) is my final major project and is supporting Arts @ Trinity charity.
As the arts continue to be pushed aside from mainstream education, it is now more important than ever for creative installations to take place in communities to help raise public awareness and to inspire / encourage others to get involved in the arts. It is through my Masters that I am hoping to make my contribution through this installation project and I need your help!
The Code is a non-profit interactive arts installation that combines both music and projection mapping. The installation will consist of geometric audio-reactive visuals carefully coded based upon the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci sequence which are projected onto a 4 metre diameter circular screen, suspended high within the Holy Trinity Church in Leeds City Centre alongside audio-reactive lighting placed around impressive church pillars, creating an immersive walk way leading to the main installation.
The installation will involve pre-programmed musicians / composers, and an open invitation which will be advertised for a variety of local, talented musicians to play. Non-musical attendees will be able to participate in the installation through the use of speech and sound, allowing one to see how the installation visualises and reacts to tone and pitch.
The artistic intention of the installation is an exploratory research project using the famous Fibonacci Number Sequence and the Golden Ratio, which can be found within design, nature and music. The installation has been designed to explore the relationships between these profound ratios and how patterns grow organically and harmoniously through one another.
The project will initially take place as one event on June 6th, and will serve as an inspiring and artistic experience for the community in the city, as well as a platform for the diverse and eclectic musical talent the city has to offer. The installation will be also raising awareness and funds for the Leeds-based charity, Arts @ Trinity, who work incredibly hard in supporting the creative arts within the local Leeds communities.
As well as studying my Music Masters, I am also a freelance composer and have previous experience in organising charitable and music / arts based events in the city. I strongly believe that exposure and participation in the arts are extremely important for both local communities and to those who are beginning their creative careers.
Having composed the music for an installation at Illuminating York in 2014, I was deeply inspired at how much of a positive impact installations of this nature can have on communities. I saw my final Masters project as an opportunity to create my own and I hope I can continue making a positive impact through showcasing this project again.
How your donations help:
The funding raised will help me to buy all the materials for the installation, including the screen, wooden frame, fixtures / fittings, the hire of a 7000 lumen projector and the promotional materials. Any funds raised beyond £500 will be donated to Arts @ Trinity. Every donation counts!
With your donation you will receive a digital copy of the installation taking place, featuring some of the brilliantly talented local Leeds musicians and composers.
You can also receive a personalised digital copy with a special message, thanking individual crowd funders along with some of my compositions.
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page, your donations are so appreciated! Kate x
