Tay Rowing Club was set up in 2015 and has since had great success in re-establishing the Tay as a centre for rowing. From our humble beginnings, we have built up a dedicated group of volunteers who have shared their passion for rowing with a great bunch of enthusiastic new and experienced rowers living around the Tay.
However, our ambitions and the interest we have received mean that we are outgrowing our facilities. At the moment we have a small set up to keep our fleet secure, but no permanent building or facilities. This limits our ability to expand our capacity and particularly work with young people.
Without doubt, the Tay is one of the best but under utilised rivers for rowing in Scotland and our dream is to build a boat house that will secure the Tay as a centre for rowing. This will allow us to have a dedicated building to store our boats, changing facilities and a gym to train in. This will allow the Club to expand its ability to train rowers of all ages and abilties.
However, while there are funds we can access to build the boat house, we must find the money for our planning application ourselves. We estimate the costs of this will be around £6000 with any any excess we raise going towards building costs.
