My cousin Tim was left permanently brain damaged after suffering a cardiac arrest in August 2013, surviving without oxygen for 72 minutes. The cardiac arrest was caused by an existing condition called Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. He has lost his vision and has restricted movement on his left side. January 2017 he had made such progress he was ready to take on his first physical challenge. I am a keen cyclist and wanted to help Tim with his rehabilitation so we signed up for our first event- We recently took part in the British Heart Foundation London to Reading cycle on a friends tandem. This new lease of life and experience has given Tim such a buzz that we want to do more challenges in the future and share our experience of working together to encourage others who may have suffered serious illness or changes to their life circumstances to take on similar challenges.
Tim is unable to work and we would like to raise money so we have a tandem that is suitable for us both to use so that we can continue to take part in future challenges and raise money for other charities.
