New stretch target
If we exceed our target, then any extra funds will be used to increase the quailty of the CD packaging beyond a simple budget jewel case with single page insert to a booklet that explains a bit more of the background to the stories and songs. Anything left after that will go straight into the Worth Valley Storytelling Guild's bank account in order to contribute to those projects we wish to raise funds for through sales of the CD
The Worth Valley Storytelling Guild works to advance the education of the art, practice and value of oral storytelling within the Worth Valley community in West Yorkshire and beyond. In order to further these aims, we want to produce a CD of stories and songs that were originally performed at the Haworth Festival in June 2015 as part of a performance entitled "Tam Lin and Other Tales of Transformation" by Adam Sargant, storyteller and his daughter, Emily Sargant, singer and musician.
We need £750 to produce the CD. We have artwork commissioned by a local artist and we have a recording engineer and studio time. The stories are ready. With £750 we can make the CD a reality, which will then be sold with all profits going to fund future projects, such as involving local schools in encouraging the next generation of storyteller, a Worth Valley living history project, community building projects and a Haworth Storytelling Festival.
Tracks confirmed so far for the CD are
1. Tam Lin, told by interweaving the ballad and the story
2. The Selkie Bride, a story with additional music and song
3. The Black Prince, an Egyptian folk tale with additional flute
