To raise sufficient funds to enable SUSAN RYLAND to stand for the Green Party in the General Election and to run an effective campaign
Surrey. Not Green enough?
I hope to stand as the Green Party candidate in SW Surrey as I believe the people of this beautiful area deserve a local choice. I have lived and worked here for more than 35 years, and studied for my degree and doctorate in Farnham. I love living here. As a university lecturer and through local community initiatives I promote creative, ethical and sustainable innovation in business.
But something is going seriously wrong. Who would have thought that in 2015 we'd need foodbanks in SW Surrey? Or of plans to extract fossil fuels by hydraulic fracturing - a threat to our local environment as well as contributing to global climate change.
My priorities include:
Protect our rural and built environment: defend our open spaces, villages and towns from inappropriate and unwanted development - and no fracking!
Provide the best health care for all by putting people first and ending the creeping privatisation of the NHS. I am alarmed that all three of our hospitals are now run by Virgin Care.
Protect vulnerable people in our society so that food banks become a thing of the past.
I will, if elected, bring a real sense of democracy to this traditionally safe Tory seat and challenge complacent councils to serve the interests of the communities rather than developers and corporations.
I wish to stand in this year’s General Election not just for the Green Party, but for all those who want a change from the same old Westminster politics. For those who want to put social and environmental wellbeing back on the political agenda.
The Green Surge
More and more people have had enough of the old parties and many are going Green. Membership of the UK Greens has tripled over recent months, overtaking the LibDems and UKIP with over 60,000 members. In this election, EVERY VOTE WILL COUNT.
The Green Party doesn't depend on huge donations by big business, unions and millionnaires. We rely on the generosity of our members and supporters.
To stand for election I have to raise a deposit of £500 and I need a further £1000 for leaflets, posters etc..
Please help to give everyone a chance to vote Green on May 7th.
Any donation you can give - big or small - will be really helpful.
I also need practical help, leafleting, campaigning, put a poster in your window and so on. Please get in touch.
Thank you for your support.
The Green Party has to report donations of over £500 or more, to the Electoral Commission , to ensure these donations are made by UK nationals. Also, please ensure that you are on the electoral register - this is a requirement for donating to any political party: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Very best wishes
