Hi there my name is mac and i am a disabled Army veteran living at supported housing in London. I served for 7 years in the Army and was on operations in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and Iraq. I was injured while serving in the Iraq war in 2003, i sustained significant damage to both legs and now require walking stick to move around. When i left the Army i found it difficult to adjust and gain employement within civilian life, i had enjoyed taking photographs while serving and decided i wanted to learn more about photography. i studied for 3 years and gained my professional qualifications at college. i found sports photography appealing because athletes show their raw emotion when competing and i wanted to capture that emotion and share it with everyone through photography. Also due to my injury i am unable to move around easily so photographing in sporting arenas where you are required to stay in position appealed to my abilities. i have managed to cover major events such as Champions League football, World Cup Football, Cup finals and the London Olympics.
i want to cover the games to show my work all over the world wide net and help raise awareness of our Armed forces, their dedication and emotion to overcome huge obstacles in their lives to be able to compete at that the Invitus Games.
