The brand: VOOM 2016

Virgin Media Business wanted to reach more consumers by supporting businesses and social enterprise in the UK.

The team wanted to involve themselves in the right conversations to create brilliant relationships with new audiences. 

They ramped up national support for businesses across the UK and Ireland by offering all entrants taking part in their yearly VOOM 2016 competition the opportunity to crowdfund their idea while canvassing for votes.

With thousands of businesses vying for public support to gain the chance to pitch to Sir Richard Branson himself, Virgin Media Business partnered with Crowdfunder to turn votes into cash to ensure that all businesses walked away with funding, crowdfunding expertise, marketing knowledge and enterprise education. 

Crowdfunder designed and built the VOOM website and delivered a digital toolkit to engage and inspire businesses across the UK and Ireland. 

That meant Virgin Media Business were able to connect with millions of potential consumers through project owners sharing their crowdfunding and voting pitches across the world.   

Crowdfunder supported the national VOOM marketing plan to find and discover winning businesses and provided expert crowdfunding guidance and coaching to help project owners reach their funding targets. 

By enabling more enterprises to grow and expand through the use of crowdfunding, Virgin Media Business were able to connect and promote their brand to millions of potential new customers and consumers. 



Results 

Virgin Media Business's VOOM 2016, powered by Crowdfunder created over 20,000 entries with a secondary reach to millions of people across the UK, putting business and enterprise in the spotlight. 

On top of enabling crowdfunding for businesses, Virgin Media Business and Crowdfunder teamed up with JCDecaux to create a support package and prize of £50,000 as extra funding for the winner of the Crowdfunder Award - unlocking a torrent of opportunity through VOOM for all entrants. 

Half of all the businesses that took part in VOOM also took up crowdfunding, amplifying the £50,000 opportunity for businesses into £750,000 of funds raised for startups and growth enterprises across the UK and Ireland. 

Crowdfunder and Virgin Media Business created opportunity for 20,000 businesses at the same time as telling the story of enterprise here in the UK and Ireland. 

The campaign has consistently pulled in new audiences to Virgin Media Business as the support they've provided gets shared prolifically through the crowdfunding projects they've enabled to grow.

Millions engaged with the VOOM campaign, enabling Virgin Media Business to become a pivotal opportunity at the epicentre of the startup and growth business sector, providing value and opportunity for thousands.
