Crowdfund Plymouth is a campaign delivered by Crowdfunder for Plymouth City Council.
The aim of the campaign was to distribute Community Infrastructure Levy funds to community, sports, social enterprises and businesses in Plymouth.
The council were looking for an innovative and cost-effective way to distribute funds to projects that had support from their communities.
Crowdfunder amplified the funding set aside for local communities by enabling the crowd to contribute to great projects.
Crowdfunder designed and built a dedicated web page and a digital toolkit to engage and inspire people in the community. Plymouth City Council were able to streamline their grant application and administration process by pledging on projects through the Crowdfunder website, creating a cost effective method of distributing funds to the community.
Crowdfunder produced and delivered a marketing plan to attract projects and provided expert crowdfunding guidance and coaching to help project owners reach their funding targets, unlocking the extra money from Plymouth City Council.
From the initial £60,000 Community Infrastructure Levy funds distributed through Crowdfunder, over £450,000 has been raised for projects in Plymouth.
Research shows that the initial seed funding of £60,000 from Plymouth City Council, leveraged significant additional funds from individuals, businesses and other funders, creating a positive flow of funds into the city and in particular to more deprived areas where over 50% of the funded projects are based.
The real impact of Crowdfund Plymouth is seen in the wide range of projects, which following a successful crowdfunding campaign are now making a difference to the lives of people in the city - creating jobs, bringing communities together and supporting disadvantaged individuals.
The campaign continues to provide an innovative solution for the council to support their local community to raise the funds they need for their great ideas.
