What is it?
Streatham Space Project will be a brand new purpose-built live performance venue and creative space, opening in March 2018. There will be theatre, music and comedy as well as activities for families, creative classes and workshops.
There will be:
- A 120 seat auditorium
- A workshop & rehearsal room
- A meeting room
- A café & bar
We want to make a venue that reaches all corners of our neighbourhood, bringing it together to do and experience creative things - as well as drawing people to the area from across London to see the best new talent.
We need your help and donations to get our charity up and running - please support us and make this a reality!
Why?
Streatham Space Project is a registered charity (no. 1172475) set up to put on great shows, make them accessible, and use them to bring people together.
Streatham is our home and we love it – but it needs a creative headquarters. We will be a venue that hosts top-class performers, showcases the best south London talent, and shares it with our neighbourhood. We also want people to use creative activities as a way to meet and mix.
With a fast turnover of inhabitants like many parts of London, Streatham could very easily become a commuting suburb for central London. We know that art, culture and live performance can be used to keep hold of and grow our neighbourhood’s spirit, attracting people from across London to us to enjoy great shows in Streatham.
What will be on?
We'll be championing up-and-coming talent in music, theatre and comedy, as well as putting on workshops, running activities for families and outreach programmes.

What Will the Money Be Spent On?
So far, we've managed to secure a 25 year rent free lease on the building (take a look at our site tour video below) and equipment including theatre lighting, sound, staging and projection . Now we need your help to get us over the line and make this project a real success.
Design
We want to make this venue an inspiring place to be from the moment you walk in. As well as comfy furniture, if we reach our target we can add colour and functionality to our cafe, bar and activity rooms.
Tech
To make your experience as smooth as possible, we need some kit to get us up and running - high speed internet, a smooth bar till system and extra operational equipment to ensure that when you visit, everything just works.
Project Management
The Streatham Space Project team and their charity trustees have been working voluntarily for 18 months - to get this started we need a small amount of front-loaded project management to let us focus on bringing you the best venue possible.
Artist's Fees
We want to commission artists so that the venue inspires from the moment it opens. We're working on projects to commission artists and designers to make pieces of art based on stories from our neighbourhood. We also want to employ some scenic artists to add a touch of spice to the venue.
Overheads
Of course a small amount of this money will also be spent on keeping the lights on and the kettle boiled while we pull all this together. Without this none of the rest of our work can happen - thanks for your support!
