The Strathpeffer and District Community Rowing Club is a newly formed community group based in Strathpeffer with membership from a wide local area. SDCRC includes the communities of Achnasheen, Conon Bridge, Maryburgh, Jamestown, Garve, Marybank, Muir of Ord and Beauly. We welcome those interested to join us and help build the dream.
The club is building a St Ayles Skiff, a clinker-built rowing boat seating 4 rowers and a coxswain. The St Ayles skiff is extremely stable in the water, and can be crewed by young and old.
The Club's members will build the boat in a barn near Strathpeffer, and if the build goes to plan, initially launch the boat in Loch Achilty .Once crews are fully trained and seaworthy tests passed by our skiff, we will launch in the Cromarty Firth. Our long term goal is to compete in Scottish Coastal Rowing Association Regattas, locally and nationwide.
The Club has raised sufficient funds to purchase the flat pack kit, which will enable the membership to begin building the boat. The Crowdfunding campaign seeks funds to complete the build, purchase safety equipment, boat fittings and provide for annual insurance, maintenance and running costs.
The Club welcomes new members to participate in the build and/or crew the boat when she is complete.
