Stow on the Wold RFC are moving to a new playing shirt manufacturer for the new season in September, requiring the parents to dig deep to buy their kids new playing shirts, and as coaches of the U8s team (Stow Lions), we would like to dress the kids in their own set of training tops, to help protect their new playing shirts for match days, but to also help keep the kids dry and warm though the winter months.
At the start of last season, we gave ourselves the 'Lions' name as it has a strong link to rugby, as the British and Irish Lions tour New Zealand this summer, a link to the local sheep to give us a local grounding and a name that would drive fear into our opposition before we kicked off.
Last season as Under 7s, the Lions were very successful, taking all three FairPlay trophies away from their first festival. Then closing out their season with two trophies as invitees to the Oxfordshire County Festival. A season that saw the Lions unbeaten, drawing only one match, three games each the only non winning match!
The Lions are a squad of 28 players, from a broad range of schools from across the local area, a mix of both girls and boys, a squad that has gelled over the course of last season to create life long friendships.
We have some funds left over from last seasons fund raising but fall short on being able to purchase a full set of training shirts.
This is where we turn to crowd funding, as requests for sponsorship as main chest space sponsor for the training tops has so far not given us a positive result.
