Stoke Damerel Church is a Grade 2* listed building, having many unique historical features. A church has stood on the site since the 1200s. There is a plaque on the wall showing a continuous roll of Rectors dating back to 1310 and our church attracts the attention of Genealogists worldwide.
A building of this age, obviously needs a great deal of restoration and renewal and to this end, we are making a leap of faith in proceeding with vital upgrading work.
Our immediate programme includes a new floor with under floor heating and upgrade to the lighting. We are currently short of our target by £30,000.
For a £50 donation, your name will be added to a roll of honour plaque in church.
Future projects will include a new sound system, a mini-kitchen, improvements to the North and South porches and restoring our historic Hele 3 manual organ to its greatest potential. Finally renewal of the roof!
