Sewing and textile workshops and classes.
About the project
Having run Stitchsmiths as a mobile sewing school for a year, an opportunity has arisen to have a fixed base in Barnham from which I can put on a programme of classes and workshops every week. The unit has wheelchair access and plenty of parking, so it's ideal!
My aim is to teach everyone how to sew, even if it's just the basics, because I believe it's an important skill.
In addition, making something yourself, especially something you can wear or have around your home, is a great way to build confidence and explore creativity.
Children benefit from developing fine motor skills, basic maths and creativity.
Everyone enjoys Stitchsmiths sewing classes!
In order to set up the workshop in Barnham I need to raise a bit of money for fixtures and fittings, decorating etc. I already have the sewing machines and other equipment, so the requied funds are low.
I will be offering discount vouchers and other incentives to backers as a thank you for your support.
Here I am teaching a knitting class.
A wall hanging created by older people at a local day centre, with the help of Stitchsmiths.
Some bunting created at a Stitchsmiths bunting-making workshop.
