Formed in 1885, Saint Duthus FC were the first association football team to play out of the town of Tain at the Links playing fields, doing so years before the Association code was properly accepted in the surrounding area and the team continued to play in various forms of local and regional competitions either side of two world wars until they fell into abeyance in 2005. Now, in 2016, a new committee is being formed and the club has applied to rejoin the North Caledonian Football Association where they once played.
Now we are turning to the community of Tain and it's surrounding area, along with former players and supporters of the old team - and we are asking you to join us in the #SaintsRevival as founder members of the St Duthus FC Supporters Club. Funds raised by this initiative will help to put St Duthus FC back on the football map by bringing winter football back to Tain where it belongs, competing for honours in Britain's most northerly amateur football league. With next season only a few months away, we need to invest in training equipment, sportswear and other kit for the season ahead as well as raise funds for trips to away games and other costs such as association membership and insurance.
We have a wide range of rewards in mind for supporters who back the club's revival, but at the very least, EVERYONE who contributes to this project will have their name added to our wall plaque in the Tain Football Pavilion at the Links, thanking those who helped this revival take place.
