The project aim is to help the members of St Michael and All Angels Steel Orchestra participate in Notting Hill Carnival.
About the project
St Michaels Youth Project has been running 1996. Our mission is to raise the self esteem and self worth of children and young people aged 5-25 and provide educational, musical, personal development, leadership and recreational activities in order to improve their life chances and better prepare them to recognise opportunities and to take advantage of them when they arise.
The Project Flagship is St Michael & All Angel's Steel Orchestra, which teaches children & young people to learn then perform Classical, Popular, Folk and World music of the past 350 years at community events, nurserys, daycare centres, hospices, hospitals and at residential homes.
This staying healthy activity will provide an opportunity that the whole community can take part in and is one that will benefit the majority of those who participate. It will also take some effort from the younger participants to do, as most of them are not used to being up at this time of the morning. We hope that this will become a regular activity for local young people and adults of all ages
The funds raised will go towards the children and young people putting on Free community concerts this summer and so they can take part in the Notting Hill Carnival and perform at the largest street festival in Europe..
