I would like to begin by introducing myself and adding some context to my project.
I am a 28 year old single mum, working three jobs to support my son who is 18 months old. In addition to this, I suffer from Behcet’s syndrome, a rare disorder that causes inflammation of the blood vessels throughout the body, often leaving me in agony and unable to work your everyday "9-5".
Ever since my beautiful son was born, it has become apparent to me that the choice of aesthetically pleasing and fashionable yet comfortable, ethically sourced and organic clothing for him is limited. As a result of this, Smudge Kids was born. I have researched extensively and worked tirelessly over the last year securing relationships with leading organic clothing brands, bespoke handmade accessory brands and unique and ethically sourced toy brands, many of whom are willing to provide me with exclusivity in the UK.
Today, Smudge Kids is in its infancy yet growing rapidly, I have recently entered into supply agreements with some of the leading Organic/Ethical brands in the industry. I have an online outlet, a strong social media presence and a good repeat custom rate.
I am now in a position where I would like to expand and open a retail outlet, inviting customers to see and try on clothing etc, this will further enhance my presence and expose a greater number of parents to our beautiful range of clothing.
That brings me to this point, I am currently in the process of viewing a property comprising 2-storey retail space. I plan to fit out the shop to suit on the ground floor and have an area upstairs dedicated to parents who wish to sit, relax, have a tea/coffee while their children play in a secure play area free of charge. Free wi-fi will be available and this will give parents, perhaps single mums like myself, the ideal opportunity to catch up on work or maybe even start a business! I will also offer a weekly calendar of activities that benefit both littles ones and their parents.
The amount I am asking for is purely for the fit out/set up costs as I have already secured the majority of my stock.
