We're raising funds so we can hire some music production equipment for our fundraising event Sing for SASH taking place in York city centre.

On November 29th local musicians will be filling the streets of York with beautiful music as they 'Sing for SASH' to raise money and awareness for local youth homelessness charity SASH.

We have been overwhelmed by the support from the York music community and now have over 28 local acts performing 30 minute sets from 10am to 5pm at the Coppergate Centre and the St Michael Le Belfrey forecourt with all proceeds going to SASH. For any night owls we are also holding a gig at the Golden Fleece from 9pm-11:30pm. There will be a wide variety of acts, of all ages taking part from local drama groups to seasoned buskers – there is something for everyone!

To make sure all of our acts sound their best and that the people of York can hear them, we will need to hire some music production equipment - PA systems, amps and microphones. We could pay for these out of our budget but that would mean less money going to support our services so it would be great if the people of York could help us with the hire costs. We have had some help from a very generous local business TSYS so any extra funds will help with providing artists and volunteers with refreshments as well as publicity for the event.

So who is SASH? We are a local charity who works to prevent vulnerable young people from becoming homeless by offering them a room in a volunteer's home. We help young people get the support they need so that a time of crisis does not lead to a vicious circle of homelessness and unemployment. Along with providing a safe place to stay, we support young people to access education, training or employment and to gain the skills and self confidence they need to live independently. We cover York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding.

Could you help us Sing for SASH? Any amount is greatly appreciated and we will thank any donors on our website as well inviting you to our AGM in December.

Thank you for your kind support. Lets fill the streets of York with music on November 29th and raise awareness of the work SASH does.
