Our aim is to transform the quality of life for the senior residents of Harpenden through exercise and activity classes.
We need you to help us raise £500 which will enable us to get started with this much needed community project and will pay for equipment, hall hire and marketing in the hope that after a short period of time the class will become self supporting.
Along with the continuous improvement of fitness we aim to also increase social interaction in a bid to tackle the ever increasing issue of lonliness and isolation, that is a common problem in more mature people, reducing depression and encourage feelings of self worth and purpose.
The classes will incorporate gentle exercises, both seated and standing, focusing predominately on balance and stretching together with cadiovascular exercise at a level to suit each indivual's abilites.
Our classes will be fun and involve upbeat happy music so that we will create an environment that our silver members will look forward to on a weekly basis rather than thinking that exercise is a burden.
With your help we can get the ball rolling on the prevention of lonliness in a fun, socialble and active way.
If we exceed our target, we will use the extra funds to be able to put on additional classes so we can get as many people involved as possible.
