Town centre bike races around the historic streets of Shrewsbury
About the project
Thousands of people spilled onto the streets on Shrewsbury last May to enjoy the town’s first cycle road race in more than 20 years.
As organisers of the Shrewsbury Cycle Grand Prix we are delighted to be bringing another unforgettable night of racing action to the town on 31 May 2015.
We are expecting hundreds of professional and amateur riders from across the UK to take part in the racing action and anticipate thousands of people will once again throng the streets to enjoy the atmosphere.
It is our aim to put Shrewsbury firmly on the cycling map and with your help we can make it one of the best town centre cycling events in Britain.
Shrewsbury is a remarkable place with a thriving and buzzing business community.
Due to the nature of the event it is hard to raise enough funds to put on the event. Sponsorship can only raise so much. With a relatively low number of competitors compared with, say a marathon, it is impossible to charge enough to cover the costs. We have barriers to pay for, PA systems, Square rental, British Cycling officials to name but a few of the costs. The event is free to watch for spectators.
If all the spectators were to contibute just £1 we could secure the future of the event for years to come.
The race is run by Paramount CRT a totally non-profit making community based cycling club who's sole aim is to get as many people intrested in cycling as possible.
We hope you choose to support the race and support our efforts. Regardless we look forward to seeing you all for another year.
