On 2 April 2016, we're hosting a Night of Creativity and teen writing workshop at Lerwick's Mareel Auditorium on the Shetland Islands.

In return for donating to our project, you’ll receive some beautiful creative gifts like a handmade thank you note, products from local Shetland businesses, discounts off the ticket price of the event, and a video recording of the event.

Where Do You Call Home?

It's a simple question with a complicated answer. Home may be a house, a town, a country, a family, or wherever your heart resides. We're embarking on a journey to explore the diverse meanings of home while celebrating creativity, diversity, and landscape.

We’re Kirsten and Angie, postgraduate creative writing students at the University of Glasgow. Angie’s from Chicago, and Kirsten’s from Shetland. To us, home has many meanings.

Come Together for a Night of Creativity

On 2 April 2016, we’re hosting a Night of Creativity and teen writing workshop at Lerwick’s Mareel Auditorium on the Shetland Islands.

Yep, the Scottish archipelago way, way up north.

We chose Shetland because of its natural beauty and its close-knit creative community. We think it’s the perfect place to explore the meanings of home.

The day will begin with a teen writing workshop, where we’ll guide local students on storytelling through prose and poetry in a dynamic theatre space.

In the evening, we’ll host the Night of Creativity, which will feature readings and interviews of renowned writers from the around the world, a 2-course buffet, the presentation of the students' creative work, and a ceilidh (a traditional Scottish dance) to end the night!

And our journey doesn’t end after this night.

We’re collecting the stories read at the event into an online literary anthology.

The night will be filled with food, fun, stories, music, and tons of creative energy!

We Need Your Help!

We’re shooting for the stars with this event and need financial support to cover costs related to travel, advertising, decorations, and the venue. Stretch funding (over our requested £1700) would go to paying our speakers, hotels, and additional marketing.

In return for donating to our project, you’ll receive some beautiful creative gifts like a handmade thank you note, products from local Shetland businesses, discounts off the ticket price of the event, and a video recording of the event.

Help us celebrate home and bring people together in one of the most beautiful places in the world!
