To buy three boats for our club to raise the quality and quantity of equipment we offer. It will also provide better boats for our women.
We are a student run and funded club, who provide all of the equipment for our members. Rowing is a very expensive sport, with new boats costing in excess of £40,000 at the top end. We need a little extra cash to top up our existing funds to buy 3 quality second-hand boats that would greatly improve and expand our fleet.
An 8+ that would replace one from 1987. A 4+ to be used by both the men and the women, to replace our one that is currently only suitable for men. A 4- that would expand our capability to cater to both sculling and sweep disciplines as our club continues to expand.
£6,000 would make the purchases possible, but anything above this amount would help massively towards updating the fittings in our other boats, shoes, slides etc.
