I coach kids football in Essex, where kids can easily go through 2 pairs of boots and 2 pairs of astro trainers in a single season. They want for nothing, everyone wears new kits and discards what they no longer want without any consideration of where it goes. Through a coaches forum I got talking to a guy in Sierra Leone who created and coaches a team out there. The kids he coaches have nothing, they often play in odd boots or bare feet, the balls they use would have been thrown away long ago by clubs over here. I decided that we should share our good fortune with those that need it. Through this link up with Aliyah at the Shearer Academy I have taught the kids I teach that so much good can come of their old kits, boots, balls etc. Some of the local clubs have got involved and donated kit and training equipment.
My intention is continue running this project and to donate to other clubs in other areas around the world - there are so many people out there that would appreciate this kind of help. With sponsorship I can grow the amount I collect and get donations shipped much quicker than at present.
