The Project aim is to help send the Durham University Cheerleading Squad to Paris to retain their title as Grand Champions in the Future Cheer Brings It On competition in 2016.
About the project
The Durham Divas had an exceptional 2014-15 season. Not only did we achieve first place at the BCA Winter Weekender in Blackpool, after a mere six weeks of training with a brand new squad, our greatest achievement to date was jumping up from ninth to third in the country at the UK University Nationals in Birmingham.
Following on from last year’s success, we hope to continue to promote Team Durham regionally, nationally and internationally in order to begin building the foundation of our athletes of the future. However, despite our best efforts, the Divas still receive no financial support. This means that we regularly struggle to pay for training facilities, coaching, travel and competition entry.
On top of all of the training, we still find time to help out charities that are very close to our hearts. We completed the X Runner Water Wipeout in June 2014 and the Colour Run in June 2015 in order to fundraise for a local Down’s Syndrome charity. Further, we have taken part in two amazing flash mobs, raising awareness for Fixers UK and Cancer Research UK. We are also looking forward to working alongside Durham Pride this year!
Your support will mean that each girl on the squad has an equal chance of competing not just around the UK, but also in Paris in March 2016, where we hope to retain our title of Grand Champions. We want to make sure that every talented cheerleader who has worked extremely hard to reach this point has the opportunity to compete, but our lack of funding is making this less and less likely.
To the right, you will find the lovely rewards we are offering to each of our donors when you pledge your support to our project. No matter how much you are willing to donate, we are hugely thankful for your kindness and generosity. If you can’t donate yourself, that’s okay – giving this page a share on social media would be equally as fantastic.
