New stretch target
Thank you so much for raising enough money to allow a young cancer survivor to return to sail. We are incredibly grateful.
Now let's raise enough money to enable a cancer survivor to go sailing for the very first time!
Thank you for taking the time to look out our project. We would like to raise £240 which will allow one young person to return to sail with The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust takes young people aged between 8 and 24 sailing to help them regain their confidence after a tough journey with a serious illness. The majority of young people who sail for the first time have finished treatment but are still faced with the challenge of rebuilding their lives. The emphasis of the trips is on teamwork and fun, with sailing as the perfect catalyst. Sailing offers a new and exciting experience in a small and intimate environment, which gives young people the space to assert themselves without getting lost in the group.
Those aged 8-17 can continue to sail with the Trust every year up until their 18th birthday, and we try and invite those aged 18-24 to return to sail at least once. After this, many will continue sailing with the Trust as volunteers by going through our Graduate Volunteer programme.
My friend Zoe (pictured) was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 2012. When I spoke to Zoe about which charity to support for this crowdfunding project, she immediately said The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust - "I can honestly say that charity changed my life... It was the first time I was able to properly accept everything and talk to people about it. It helped me emotionally on so many levels."
Please show your support for a wonderful cause!
