Every sportsman or woman dreams about representing their country at the highest level, experiencing the passion and sheer excitement of competing alongside their team mates on the world stage. We need your help to make this dream come true for the Scotland Mixed Open touch team to compete at the 2015 Touch World Cup in Coffs Harbour, Australia, April 29th to May 3rd. http://www.touchworldcup.com/
We have our sights set on a thrilling World Cup, off the back of being crowned the 2012 and 2014 European Champions and the 2013 Home Nations Champions.
In total we need £42,000 to make this dream come true, every little bit helps!
Touch is a sport also known in some countries as Touch Football, or Touch Rugby. Touch originated in Australia and New Zealand but has rapidly expanded internationally with more than 60 different countries currently playing the game.
A fast, thrilling, minimal contact game, the Federation of International Touch are working towards the sport being recognised in the Commonwealth and Olympic Games in years to come. A 20 member world cup team (16 players, 2 coaches and 2 support staff) we are the reigning European and Home Nations Champions and have trained and played together for more than three years. Our World Cup campaign began in Edinburgh, a cold November weekend and now continues through the winter to be prepared and ready for the five day competition down under. And boy are we committed, outside of our monthly training sessions we get together for skills and playbook sessions at least twice per week. Collectively, by the time we reach Australian shores we will have trained for a whopping 2,500+ hours.
As a team we need to fund £42,000 for travel, accommodation, training facilities, kit, and tournament fees and we hope to raise at least £3,000 of that with your help. We’ve got some great thank you rewards to make the donation that little sweeter.
