Schools Drama Workshop (North East of Scotland)

Schools Drama Workshop (North East of Scotland)

This workshop aims to educate and raise awareness of eating, exercise and body image disorders in children and young people.

We did it!

On 8th Jul 2016 we successfully raised £15 with 1 supporter in 42 days

The Men and Boys Eating and Exercise Disorders Service are a registered Scottish Charity No. SC044378.   We are launching our schools workshop called 'My Name Is John: I've Got A Lot Going On'.

This workshop aims to educate and raise awareness of eating, exercise and body image disorders in children and young people.  We are looking to secure £12,000 so that we can roll our free drama work shop to all pupils in all schools in the North East of Scotland.   We want to issue a schools pack for free of charge to each and every school pupil which details who they can talk to and where they can go for help if they identify with any of the behavioural, psychological and or physical symptoms of eating, exercise and body image disorders.

The drama itself is about a 16 year old boy called John who is suffering from an eating disorder.  The interactive theatre piece shows John and his disordered behaviours acted out in private in his bedroom where you can see his decline.  Gopro camera footage is shown out-with his bedroom to indicate 'normal' everyday activities such as going to the gym, going to the supermarket, going out with friends.

The piece was written by Lee Cruickshank on behalf of Men and Boys Eating and Exercise Disorders Service.

Every penny spared will go a long way to helping us.   Thank you.
