Raising money for a poetry collection to raise awareness and funds for Tamblyn Way in Perranporth.
About the project
Tamblyn Way, the magical stairway down to the beach in Perranporth, is in grave danger of being shut down for good. It was named after a local resident, George Tamblyn, who was one of the pioneers of surfing back in the 1920s but, more importantly, he spent much of his life working tirelessly for the town and county. He was behind much of what has made Perranporth such an enchanting town and his memory should be preserved.
The steps are an essential walkway down to the beach from the cliffs at Droskyn and have been used by thousands since their construction back in 1974. Families, surfers, dog-walkers and many others who use this beautiful beach currently have to walk down the busy hill, often struggling with surfboards, sun chairs, windbreaks - not to mention children! And on the way back up the hill after a day on the beach, that is the last thing they need.
It has been 'temporarily' closed for four years! Even the Cornish 'dreckly' does not adequately define such a delay and this campaign is to raise awareness and funds for getting it repaired before another four years have passed. All money raised will go towards the publication costs of a poetry book called 'Fifty, Shady and Very Grey, Tired of Waiting for Tamblyn Way!' And all proceeds from the book will go towards this campaign or, if no longer needed, another local cause. Many thanks for your support.
