Save Streatham Common Paddling Pool

Save Streatham Common Paddling Pool

Streatham Common Co-operative can keep the Paddling Pool open for Summer 2016 but need to raise a further £7000..

We did it!

On 2nd May 2016 we successfully raised £7,310 of £7,000 target with 277 supporters in 21 days

New stretch target

We've reached our target, but we can still use your help either with unexpected repairs this year, or we'll put it aside to give the 2017 funding a kickstart.

Following 50% cuts to parks budgets, Lambeth Council is closing Streatham Common’s very popular Paddling Pool.  Thanks though to funding from The John Horseman Trust, if we raise a further £7,000 locally, the Streatham Common Co-operative can take over management of the Paddling Pool and open it as usual this Summer.

When we surveyed the local community, 90% said they felt it was important that the paddling pool stays open, with £1,000's of pledges and dozens of offers of volunteers to help with the project.

To open the pool for summer 2016 we now need you to help us reach our target of £7000.  If we raise this then we already have matched funding commited from the The John Horseman Trust and Lambeth Council (for the utility bills) to cover the full costs to enable us to open it this season (as long as we don't get any new major problems requiring additional significant repairs).

If we beat our target or any money is left over, it will go towards next seasons's costs.

The Streatham Common Co-operative is a new community run social enterprise managing Streatham Rookery. Many people know us as 'SCCoop'. We were the first community group in Lambeth to take over direct responsibility for a Lambeth Park.

Streatham Common’s Paddling Pool was built in 1938. It is located near the car park. There are picnic tables on the grassy area around the pool, which is enclosed and accessible through a gate, which makes it a safer area for very young children. It is free to use and very popular on sunny days for families with young children.

With your support, we can reach the target and keep this valuable community facility open for everyone.
