CERT (UK) formerly known as Eden Flood Volunteers was formed at the height of Storm Desmond on 5th December 2015. The organisation has supported over 20,000 homes and businesses across the UK since then and continue to support over 700+ clients in Cumbria who were badly affected by the floods.
We are a small charity with a huge heart trying to make a difference to our community and beyond and we are now asking for your help to raise vital funds going forward. We are now facing an uncertain future as our current funding comes to an end in April 2017.
There is a real possibility that we will lose our warehouse facility (kindly leased to us by Cumbria County Council) rent free until June 2017 which leaves us with the task of finding other suitable premises, or affording a commercial lease on our existing premises.
Our charity supports those who find themselves in Crisis be it, Flood, Fire, Homelessness, Fleeing Domestic Violence, Veterans or those leaving the Prison System. We offer a variety of support from provision of furniture (dependant upon criteria) to counselling and emotional support, we work closely with other agencies such as Social Services, Citizens Advice, Red Cross, Mind and Age UK.
Our small team of paid staff are backed up by volunteers who are willing to donate hours of their time to assist those in need.
Our CEO and 2IC work full-time but do not take a salary from the charity.
Any help and donations that you can give are greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading our plea.
