Saturday Club for children with additional needs

Saturday Club for children with additional needs

We are raising funds to buy better sensory equipment and a variety of musical instruments for the children to use to help express themselves

We did it!

On 8th May 2017 we successfully raised £9 with 2 supporters in 56 days

With Thanet, Kent being one of our countries most deprived areas, services for adults amd children with amy form of disabilty and/or additional needs are sereverly lacking! Fresh Hope Disabled Services has been set up to help bridge the gap in these services.  We have started with a Saturday Club aimed at school aged children with any form of disability or additional need to come along and join others who are looking for friendship and a safe place to be, without judgement and without expectations, just a fun place to be themselves and make friends along the way. We provide a fun atmosphere which helps to motivate and develope confidence.  Sessions like this are fundamentally important for children whose life opportunities are already limited, we want to offer children every opportunity we can to help lift these limitations.

There are so many important reasons why Clubs like ours are much needed in our area:

-  Improvments in social and communication skills

-  Provides new experiences, raises aspirations and broadens horizons

-  Builds confidence and self esteem

-  Stregthens friendships and reduces peer pressure

improves relationship between parent and child and so many more.

Saturday Club runs every other Saturday from 11am till 3pm. At present parents and carers are asked to stay with their child/ren until we are all set, then they will be able to drop off their children if they would like. Entry is only £1 per child and siblings are also very welcome.

We already have general toys, a gaming and DVD area, outdoor areas, puzzles and board games, arts and crafts, reading area and a small sensory area. All money raised from this campaign will go towards musical instruments and other sensory items that the children can use to help express themselves in a more fun and creative way. Some of the items we will be purchasing are in the pictures below.

Fresh Hope has also been nominated in ASDA, Broadstairs for their green token scheme so all money raised from this will be going towards this campaign as well to help purchase these much needed items.

In 2015 we were nominated for the Thanet - Heart of the Community Awards.

In 2017 we were nominated to the KM Charity of the year Awards.
