 I have had multiple sclerosis for nearly 10 years now, it is a degenerative and debilitating condition. I used to be personal trainer and go salsa dancing twice a week, but ms has robbed me of that.  There is a new treatment that has been shown not only to halt the progression  of the disease but to also reverse the damage already done! It's called HSCT and involves harvesting the stem cells then undergoing an intensive round of chemotherapy and then having the stem cells put back. There are now hundreds of patients who have literally had the clock wound back on their bodies to a time when they did not have MS. Naturally I want to have this treatment as it has the biggest success rate in patients with relapsing remitting MS which is what I have. Unfortunately the eligibility criteria to have this procedure done in the UK is incredibly strict and I don't meet the criteria. My only option is to seek this treatment privately. It is not available in the UK yet on a private basis. It costs the NHS £30,000 to carry out the treatment, the same cost incidentally of my medication for one year! By having this treatment I would actually save the NHS money. I've heard that there is a doctor planning to offer this treatment privately in the UK in the near future....but at a cost of £90,000!!! Having researched my options the only way I can get this treatment is by having it done at a clinic in Mexico, which costs considerably less at £40,000. I'm going to do everything I can to raise the money, sell stuff, remortgage my house....whatever I have to do really so that I can get this treatment and get my life back.
