New stretch target
New stretch target
If we are successful in our fundraising and we are lucky enough to reach our initial target towards our covers, any overfunding will help two further areas of the club.
1. Part of the overfunding monies will go towards the purchase of a new tractor for cutting and rolling the outfield. Sadly the tractor we have was very old and is now unusable.
2. We will also use any overfunding to purchase and install a new engine in the roller for the square, as this too have broken down.
Both of these are essential items for the club and ones which need to be replaced in the immediate future.
Thank you for support!
Our cricket club needs some new roll-on covers. We need these ground covers to give current and future generation’s quality facilities to play cricket.
Who are Sandford Cricket Club?
We are a thriving club based in Devon. The club has five senior teams, including a women's team, and a vibrant youth section. Our children range from 6 to 18 and we have teams representing the club at Under 10, Under 10 Girls, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 level. We have a strong partnership with many local schools and run an annual Schools Cricket Coaching Programme and Cricket Festival for them.
Whilst our ground is in in excellent condition, we are always looking for ways to improve our facilities in both the short and long term. Due to an increasing amount of teams and the popularity of our Community League, the demands on the club facilities are steadily increasing. We also have the privilege of hosting Devon County Cricket Club and Devon County Age Group matches each year.
Sandford were one of the first clubs in the county to be accredited with ECB ClubMark. This recognition from The England and Wales Cricket Board highlights that Sandford is prioritising junior development and that we provide an opportunity for quality, community club cricket.
What are we trying to achieve?
The purpose of our crowdfunder is to raise money to buy roll-on covers as illustrated above. Our grounds team work incredibly hard to produce circa 50 pitches a season and the Great British weather often plays havoc with our maintenance schedule. Further to this, covers increase our chances of getting games played when currently the odd shower would put paid to all our hard work during the week. Our previous, second hand covers were destroyed in the recent storms! We have been given a huge boost by receiving a grant from the England & Wales Cricket Trust in partnership with Waitrose and The Devon Cricket League. They have granted us £3000 towards the total cost of £6000, but we need to raise the remaining £3000!
