We are Dance Republic 2: a community interest company committed to developing a thriving dance ecology in Cornwall. We do this by producing, presenting and promoting dance. We lead a collaborative dance consortium for Cornwall schools, along with a collaborative youth dance skills training programme for 11 – 16 year olds. The shop window to our work is SALT: A festival of Landscape and Dance.

SALT 2016 marks the second festival in which we programme extraordinary dance performances from local, national and internationally recognised artists, all presented in unique and inspiring locations across Cornwall on beaches, gardens, towns and trails. We believe festivals like SALT present audiences with an opportunity to see work outside of regular performance environments, and local artists and practitioners a chance to enjoy, be inspired by, and in some cases, engage in brilliant dance performance.

The purpose of our crowdfunder is to raise money for three new commissions for dance artists for this year’s SALT Ball taking place at Newdowns Farm, nr St Agnes on Saturday 20th August. So every penny you pledge will go direct to dancers. We need your help to do this. By pledging your support, you can take advantage of a selection of goodies by way of thanks, but perhaps most importantly, you become part of a new group of dance supporters called ‘Cornwall Dance Angels'- special people who choose to invest in the making of dance-as-art

We have secured a grant from Arts Council England to deliver SALT 2016, but we also need additional resources to support and nurture new and emerging artists. Cornwall is known for many things: great food, beautiful beaches, the artists of St Ives, and the oysters in Falmouth, but Cornwall is also a place of incredible, essential, creative entrepreneurialism. By becoming one of the first Cornwall Dance Angels, you can support the on-going development of artists and practitioners, enhancing their chance to follow in the footsteps of our county’s world class choreographers, theatre makers, musicians, film makers, artists and writers.
