I have been making video blogs about living on a sailing boat on the Norfolk Broads for three years now.  my channel is called, 'Sailing High Seas'.  I have thoroughly enjoyed making the videos and many people have returned very positive feedback both online and in person. This has been very rewarding in experience and also through viewer's feedback.

It is essential for myself to continue making videos for my viewers and to really continue the series it is important that I sail out of the Norfolk Broads and to other destinations.

I would like to sail down the east coast of England and then across the channel and enter the French canal system. I have chosen to go through the French canals because I can travel right across France at a leisurely pace and enter the Mediterranean at the end of the Canal Du Midi.

The reason for taking this route as opposed to going around the coast is because I want to take the time to record a great deal of the journey, locations and above all else the experience. Taking my time to do this along this route will award me a greater opportunity to film, edit and blog etc.

My sailing boat, 'High Seas' is perfect for the trip due to its folding mast and water draught.

My reason for applying for crowdfunding is simply due to the difficulty I am experiencing in funding the trip.

I do have small income streams from my Youtube channel but this really is very small and tends to almost completely diminish in the summertime. I also have a few websites like my recent Norfolk Broads Forum which in time may generate revenue but in order to get going and head out of Great Yarmouth, I need to raise £10,000.

The money will be used to:

  • Purchase new sails.
  • Renew the rigging on the boat.
  • Pay for a lift out and lift back in.
  • Antifoul, paint the boat, replace cutlass bearing, add rope cutter, anodes and change some seacocks.
  • Install VHF equipment, chart plotter, compass, echo sounder.
  • Install liferaft, flares and life jackets.
  • Obtain VHF ticket and I.C.C.( International Certificate of Competence).
  • Update filming and editing equipment.
