Ryan Hutchinson's Olympic Skeet Shooting bid

Ryan Hutchinson's Olympic Skeet Shooting bid

Raise money so I can train and practice for my attempt to represent GB in Olympic Skeet Shooting at the Tokyo 2020 and subsequent Olympics.

We did it!

On 5th Sep 2017 we successfully raised £20 with 1 supporter in 28 days

My name is Ryan Hutchinson and I am 16 years old. I shoot Olympic Skeet (an Olympic discipline of shooting) competitively using an over and under shotgun.

Tokyo 2020 is looming ever nearer and the shooting world is already preparing with teams and individuals training harder and more frequently in the hope of being selected to represent their nation. The vast majority of these people have sponsorships due to regularly competing in large-scale competitions. Unfortunately, with my recent GCSE exams I have found it exceedingly difficult to attend any of these competitions and thus are left to fund my own shooting, which, unless you are made of money, is near-on impossible. I currently have 2 part-time jobs to try and fund my shooting as best I can but it just isn't enough, and my parents are unable to fund it.

With extra training and practice in the next 3 years, I am confident I will be a very realistic competitor to earn a medal in Tokyo.

Currently, I am only able to train once a week (if I'm lucky) due to funds, which simply isn't anywhere near enough. With some extra money or sponsorship, then I will be able to train multiple times a week. I currently train at the National Clay Shooting Centre at Bisley, which is a 2 hour train journey from where I live, but it is the only place open regularly enough for me to train. The train tickets alone are astonishingly expensive, but I am highly dedicated and motivated and I want an Olympic medal more than anything in the world, so I don't care about the journey times or the difficulty of training. Furthermore, 100 targets of Olympic Skeet (typically one training session) costs over £50 including cartridges, and my current shotgun cost just shy of £800, so it isn't a cheap sport.

I would like to take this chance to thank you tremendously for reading this, and I really hope you can support me in my journey to (hopefully) Olympic glory.
