James Vallely, a runner from Armagh City, will be running the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon on October 30th 2016 to raise funds for Mizpah Home, a registered Charitable Trust in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India. Although having been a runner for most of his 66 years, this will be James' first ever marathon! For five years, his daughter Brenda has worked closely with the family who run Mizpah Home, and they are very excited that James has chosen Mizpah as his preferred charity.
Mizpah is a registered Charitable Trust, recognised by the Directorate of Social Welfare, and issued with a certificate of registration by the Directorate of Social Defence, Government of Tamil Nadu, besides being approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Mizpah's vision is to provide alternative living accommodation to underprivilged children, including orphans, destitute children, victims of substance abuse, other abuse and natural calamities, in a character-building environment, irrespective of caste, religion or sex, and raise them to be responsible citizens in society.
