Road to U.dance 2017 - Cambridge Youth Dance Co

For the dancers of Cambridge Youth Dance Company to take part in One Dance UK's National Youth Dance Festival, U.dance 2017 in Birmingham.

We did it!

On 5th Jun 2017 we successfully raised £1,550 of £1,500 target with 47 supporters in 35 days

In our first year together, Cambridge Youth Dance Company has been selected to represent the East of England at U.dance 2017.

Cambridge Youth Dance Company is a youth led dance organisation where young people write the rules and help create the work. They are key to the direction of the company, which helps them gain valuable life skills and high quality experiences in dance.

CYDC meet once a week in Cambridge to learn contemporary dance technique, rehearse and co-create contemporary dance pieces. Recently we entered U.dance East, a regional youth dance festival, where we performed our piece ‘KIND’, which we created together. The panel at the festival loved our performance and selected us to represent the whole region at U.dance 2017 in Birmingham. We are now facing the challenge of getting the group to Birmingham and we’re asking for your help.

U.dance 2017 is a national youth dance festival, organised by One Dance UK.

U.Dance 2017 will showcase the strength and talent of young dancers from across the country and enable the hundreds of young dancers to participate in classes, workshops, careers sessions and social activties during the three and half day residential. All this will take place in Birmingham, culminating in performing on the Birmingham Hippodrome Stage. For more information on the festival please visit http://www.onedanceuk.org/programme/u-dance/apply-for-u-dance-national-festival/

In order for us to take part in this exciting opportunity we need to raise £1500 to help pay for travel, accommodation and meals for the 3 days. Please have a look at our video, created by company member James.

Thank you for your help.
