We want to provide fun and educational drama sessions for children in nurseries and schools in the Cumbria area.
Hi my name is Sarah and I run my own drama business 'Pyjama Drama' in the Cumbria area.
I am passionate about teaching and I love my job. I am especially passionate about teaching children the dangers the and correct procedures on Road Safety at an early age.
What is your idea?
Children learn through play, there is no doubt about it. Their brains are marvelous especially if they are engaged, focused and having fun, that's where I come in and my super Pyjama Drama sessions.
Each session is around 40 mins long and include appropriate games, songs, instrument time, Drama (which is child led) and discussions all about the dangers on the road and how we can keep ourselves safe either walking, on a bike, scooter or even in the car with Mummy and Daddy. The theme of the session would be 'Road Safety' and there are many scenarios that children face or will face in their own lives... this session will allow them to safely figure out how to tackle the dangers and use it through drama and song which they will then learn.
I will also be giving every school posters, teaching resources, stickers and other road safety information from 'Brake' the road safety charity. My aim is to give these sessions for free to the schools and nurseries around the Cumbria area.
Why are you Crowdfunding?
I am asking for your help so I can send out a team to deliver the sessions and teacher resource packs free of charge to children under 7 in schools and nurseries. I believe that delivering these special and unique road safety sessions in schools and nurseries WILL make a difference to the safety of the young children under 7, I just need a little bit of help from yourselves :-)
" My little boy loves the Raindrops sessions held weekly at Aztec. He was 2 when we started and over the past weeks I have seen a real improvement in his concentration levels, his willingness to join in with the activities and his confidence. Sarah is brilliant, and it's magical to see their faces light up as she takes them to an imaginary world. The classes are a lovely mix of music, singing, dancing & movement & imaginary play." Samantha Howe, Elliots Mummy.
" I just wanted to say what a wonderful time my 2 year old daughter is having at the class, she just loves it! Sarah has been really greatr and very welcoming and friendly, I can't praise her enough. I have found my daughter doing the songs and dances at home and is really keen to tell everyone about what she has learned this week." Emma
"Pyjama Drama has opened up their world in communication and confidence in a way I have never seen before. The children's writing and speech have escalated from these sessions and the enthusiasm to communicate and rehearse is contagious. I really feel passionate and very fortunate to be a teacher and now even more so in experiencing the world of Pyjama Drama" Sam Wright Reception Class Teacher
"My children I take (Sticky Fingers and Butterflies Childminders) love Pyjama Drama with Sarah Watt. Sarah is a fantastic, enthusiastic person encouraging the children to express themselves through the session. This is then continued in their play back in their own environments. Sarah has made learning so much fun." Rachel Kerr, Sticky Fingers Childminders
"My daughter loves going to Pyjama Drama, she always has great fun and is always singing the catchy new songs that she has learnt and loves to copy what she has done in the session at home too it's so lovely to see how much she has grown in confidence since she started. Highly recommend Sarah is fab" Samantha Graham, Lucy's Mummy.
