Riverfest is an annual free community event, which celebrates the heritage, environment and community of Newport's historic quay, on the Isle of Wight.
Every year people of all ages flock to this popular event from all over the Isle of Wight, to sample local food and drink, buy interesting handmade crafts, and see a whole range of historic and interesting boats.
People are entertained by local dance groups and marching bands, traditional fairground rides, gigantic bubbles, street theatre and circus skills.
Local charites raise money and support for their good causes. Young people enjoy the free facepainting and a chance to play a musical instrament.
Everone likes to see the creatures of the deep, found in the silt of the River Medina, an internationally important site for wildlife.
Riverfest is the largest free community event in Newport, attracting upto 4000 people. It is the only sustainable transport event on the Island; visitors have to travel by foot, boat, bicycle or bus.
