I'd like to spend my medical elective researching ALS. It is a devastating disease and I want to help understand it better.
About the project
I'm a graduate medical student at Cambridge University. Before medicine, I worked for several years in the field of Alzheimer's disease, where I developed a passion for neurology and a sensitivity towards those who suffer from neurodegenerative diseases. My goal as a doctor will be to research these disorders while also providing excellent care to those afflicted by them. But I'm only half-way through medical school so far!
For my summer elective, I've been offered a position at the Martinos Center in Boston, working with a Harvard neurologist who specializes in ALS. In order to take up the post, I need to pay for airfare and accommodation. Any contribution will help, and any extra money I don't need I will pass on to an ALS/MND charity.
