Project aim
Help Real Steel retain their status as Europe's Number 1 Steel Band at Notting Hill Carnival - Panorama August 2015.
About the project
Real Steel is a Steel band that initially set up as a school project. The band has been playing and performing for 21 years and continues to expand in size and knowledge.
Real Steel is a local community group based in the Soundhouse at Tor Bridge High, Estover, Plymouth. The band is a well-established steel band and highly recognised locally, nationally and internationally. The band consists of 65 members who are actively involved and put many hours of practising and teaching in each week. There is a youth and adult section and the band encourages it members to develop and welcomes new members.
The steel band has 15 outstanding core players who represent the band at major events throughout the year. We require funding to maintain our 3 year title as Europe's number 1 steel band at Notting Hill carnival in August 2015. The competition has over 10 bands all competing for the championship. This year the competing bands have 'upped' their performances and skill through their players with the support of arrangers from Trinidad, the home of steel drums and countries far and wide.
The competition is the highest it's been and the band wants to be able to take the best players to Notting Hill which costs a considerable amount of money to transport over 65 players and drums. We are not based in London so we need to transport the floats we play on and find areas to practice.
All players have put in extensive hours of practising for the event in a voluntary capacity.
Real Steel want to bring the title back to Plymouth, encourage more players to join the band and develop the band.
This funding pledge will help Real Steel continue to be the best Steel band in Europe and show London and all the spectators how good the band is and maintain its status of being the only band out of London to win Panorama 3 consecutive years. Leroy Clarke is the first British and youngest arranger to achieve this.

£150 - Banner at the Carnival
A big thank you for believing in our project, we really appreciate your donation. Each float has a banner and you can sponsor an individual float with your name/company logo.
£300 - Book the band
A massive thank you for believing in our project, we really appreciate your donation. You can book our 2 piece band to play for 2 sets at an event after Panorama (subject to band availability and a 40mile radius of Plymouth).
