Reach Out and Support Counselling

Reach Out and Support Counselling aims to make a difference for women and young people in crisis.

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

Hello, and thank you for viewing our crowd funding page.

We're raising funds to support women and young people in crisis or in need of emotional support.

Your money will help provide support for someone who is struggling to cope with a life crisis, by enabling quick and easy access to a counselling service.

Seeing a counsellor when you’re struggling to cope can be the difference between getting through a crisis or dipping further in to despair.

Why is this help needed?

With the NHS stretched and GP referrals taking up to 18 weeks, often longer, many women and young people are left without support in times of crisis. We aim to:

  • Bridge the gap by being there to support women when they need it most.
  • Provide a safe, secure and confidential setting.
  • Provide a integrative approach that offers all-round support.
  • Help individuals access further support when necessary.

What we aim to be:

We are setting up this project on behalf of the women and young people who have called on us over the years, looking for help in times of need.

We will offer support to individuals going through life events such as:

  • The loss of a loved one
  • Postnatal and antenatal depression
  • The breakup of a marriage or relationship
  • Past or current abuse
  • Stress, anxiety or depression
  • Isolation
  • Addiction
  • Self harm

These events not only have an impact on the individual, but also on those around them. The emotional wellbeing of one person can affect a whole family, sometimes over generations.

Many counsellors already work on a voluntary basis often covering the cost themselves, but there’s only so much one person can do.

Many women and young people are too embarrassed or unable to access help through their GPs; and even when they do, there are long waiting lists and the help they receive is sometimes inadequate.

Many people don't have the means to pay for private counselling and are left with no support.

With your help, we can build up a network of counsellors who are willing to work at short-notice and on a reduced rate to provide people with the support they need.

What the money raised will do:

Your money will be used to cover the cost of providing face-to-face counselling in Manchester and a telephone support service for those living outside the city. These confidential, safe spaces will offer women or young people going through a crisis the opportunity to work with a fully qualified counsellor or support worker. Our professionals aim to provide an all-round service to assist individuals through difficult times. As well as providing emotional support though counselling,  we can liaise with other organisations on an individual's behalf to help them access other services as needed.

Knowing you have someone there for you when you're  down, someone to call on when you can't see a way out is what your donation will help achieve.
