It is two years since Gavin Newlands won the Paisley & Renfrewshire North seat for the SNP for the first time - this would not have happened without your help. Following the Prime Minister putting her party ahead of the country and making one of the most extraordinary u-turns in political history in calling a snap General Election we need your help again.

In that election, we said that we needed strong voices in Westminster to stand 'Stronger for Scotland' against a right wing austerity obsessed Tory Government. Furthermore, Gavin promised Renfrewshire residents that he would be a highly visible, accessible, hardworking local MP standing up for Renfrewshire. Gavin and the SNP have delivered on their promises. It is clear to all that the SNP have been the real and effective opposition to the Tories with statistics showing that they are the hardest working group at Westminster asking the questions that Labour can't, or won't, ask. While locally, Gavin has held more surgeries than any other MP in the UK, and opened a drop in shop-front office, meeting his pledge to be an accessible MP. In addition to a website and regularly updated social media profiles, Gavin has now produced two newsletters delivered to constituents all designed to keep constituents informed of his work. As well as serving as the SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Sport, Gavin has been leading the campaign to highlight the positive role that men can play in ending gender-based violence. His campaigning was crucial in the recently published Bill on the ratification of the Istanbul Convention on violence against women and girls. Since being elected Gavin has served on the Backbench Business Committee – ensuring that the voices of backbench MPs

The polls are showing that this upcoming general election is a fight between the SNP and the Tories. Over the past two years, the SNP have shown that they will always stand up for Scotland and against the right-wing divisive agenda of the Conservatives.
