We are a large sized Junior School in Derby. We have children ranged from 7 to 11 years old. Over the past few years, we have been fundraising to be able to renovate a small part of our school grounds so we could create a garden with twelve raised beds. In April 2013, this was achieved and the staff and students have been working together to produce a variety of produce. This has been used in our own run school kitchen and the children have also been selling it to their parents and carers to make money to become self sufficient. The children have taken a keen interest in growing their own food and learning about how different produce is grown. Our main goals for this area is to have enough produce grown and sold to become self sufficient and to provide the basic produce for our school kitchen. We would welcome any donations to help us achieve these goals. With this money we are hoping to purchase ten fruit trees, which will aid us in achieving our goals and give another aspect to our garden for the children to take care of. Many thanks for all at Ravensdale Junior School for taking the time to read about our future commitments.
