The space and resources we require to support the transitions of children and young people who are joining Raise the Youth.

About the project

Please take a moment to think back to when you were 14 years old. Now consider where you are now; work life, health, financially and the family and friends you have around you.

At 14 did you think you would be where you are today? Did you have the encouragement and belief behind you to get here?

At Raise the Youth we are discovering more and more children and young people who lack that belief. Some communities have sadly developed a negative judgement of children and young people who are homeless, living in care, with mental health issues, involved in crime, drugs of who are ex-offenders. We are working with businesses, services and our public to encourage our community to change that opinion; to see past the outcomes of their behaviour and give them the voice and opportunity to share with our experienced team why they feel they are within that lifestyle and discover the alternative routes.

We believe if you want to change the world, you have to inspire the young people, because they are our future. So join us, grab your red cape, be the hero and inspiration these young people need.

Our first mission is to join forces to complete the assessment room which our staff and post 16 group have been working hard to create. They are doing a great job, but it's looking very bare, and unfortunately we lack the superhero powers to build computers and equipment which will put the room into action. So now the power is in your hands fellow superheros.

The assessment room will give us the space and resources to support more children and young people in need of our service. We will be using it to welcome them into Raise, break down any barriers and gradually build their confidence and commitment to ensure they are effective with their time at Raise.

The computer systems will give us access to maths, english and science programmes, the decor and wall displays will give the children and young people an insight to the fitness, workshops and activities encouraged within Raise. A percentage of our goal will contribute to the materials for our post 16 group to build work surfaces, lay flooring; all skills which they are developing in the process of our assessment room and supporting their applications into apprenticeships and higher education. With the use of the IT equipment, white board and extra space our staff who were once service users will be able to give presentations to welcome and motivate the young people in their Raise journey because they are the key inspiration these young people need, they are proof to our community that change is possible.

So please have confidence in our next generation, give that encouragment you had growing up to some of these children and young people who don't.

You will be contributing to so much more than just an assessment room, you will be encouraging a more successful and happier generation; the more young people involved in crime we connect with the safer our enviroment will become, the alternative method of education we can provide will make mainstream education a more effective process for all children and young people.
