Please donate if you can and help us to refurbish our stage with new space, lighting, sound system and curtains so we can 'Raise the Curtain' in rural Dorset.
Sixpenny Handley Village Hall is home to a multitude of community groups from Happy Nappy to Chase Community Friends. Its is also fast becoming know for its fabulous live music nights 'Sixpenny Session's'. Our hall in the north of rural Dorset was built in the 1970's and over the years storage has been built on the stage which has meant that the stage is now too tiny to host large bands or put on amateur dramatics. Our technical equipment is out of date, no one knows how to use it and it is in dire need of an upgrade!
Our village hall is at the heart of our community, hosting childrens parties, quizes, auctions, mums and babies groups, exercise classes etc. However we want to do more! Recently we welcomed back Artsreach Rural Touring to Sixpenny Handley and had a record attendance at Travelling Lights recent performance of Strictly Balti. Coupled with the success of our music nights we want to build on our music and theatre audiences and be able to put on bigger and better productions.
Living in rural Dorset is beautiful but we are a good drive away from other music and theatre venues, local people need access to great events on their doorstep. All our events are run by a team of incredible volunteers who believe in our sense of community and how the arts can bring us all together.Sixpenny handley Village Hall runs events for people of all ages, keep up to date with our next events on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/6DHandleyVillageHall/
