Hi, I'm Ian, an 18 year old student currently at Devonport High School for Boys studying Psychology, Physics, Biology and Spanish. I grew up in a bilingual household, giving me the stepping stone to be able to pursue Spanish as a mother tongue language. I work for Plymouth Argyle Football Club as a ticket salesman and also have a strong interest in the club. I play football for Plymouth Parkway under 18's as well as for a Thursday 5-aside league team.
I was given an opportunity to be a volunteer by my school 6th form within a foreign country, this country being Peru, where I'd be taking part in a 2 week group project that aims to conserve the Amazon as well as the wildlife surrounding it. I will be taking part in activities such as: bird watching (to count the biodiversity of that area for that time of year), animal feeding (critically endangered species, such as the spider monkey in situ), saving protected species from factors which may reduce the overall population (Collecting turtle eggs from the sand so they aren't washed away or eaten, then later being released into the wild) as well as being able to learn the Spanish language from mother tongue speakers.
The importance of this project is indescribable with the need for conservation rising with each and every day, week and month. The project is run by an organisation called "projects abroad" that supplies everything apart from flights to and from Peru.
Donations of any size are welcomed, but what can you get in return?
Donations will more likely to be received by business members due to the pledge format that I have gone for... mostly advertising and recognition.
Many thanks for anything given towards my cause!
