We have a centre for people with acquired brain injury and have bought an adjoining vacant social club which we are converting into a pub with no beer. Brain injury survivors are actively discouraged from using alcohol and consequently in rural areas such as ours, their opportunities to socialise are limited. Many of our survivors are youg males who sustained their brain injuries as a result of assaults or road traffic accidents. Most of them are keen pool players. We have a pool room in our existing centre  but it is lacking  in atmosphere and cannot easily accommodate two pool teams and their supporters. We have played some friendly  matches here with teams from our local pool league and we have done very well. This has given our members a great boost. We wish to create a pub atmosphere without the alcohol where we can play local pool teams in an environment as close to where pool matches would normally take place.  The pub would be used for other pub-related activities such as pub quizzes, music nights and parties and would be available to our wider community.
