The current British government have just announced that they want to remove all NHS funding for healthcare courses. Not on our watch!

The NHS bursaries system is a vital lifeline to those facing hardship or even simply students who come straight out of higher education and seek to work in the NHS as a healthcare worker. However the current government have claimed that they wish to remove the current system and replace it with a loans system which would mean that students would have over £50,000 of debt when they finish university. They justify this by proclaiming that this will mean they can lift the cap on places offered to healthcare courses and thus solve the current employment crisis within the NHS.

This is not in any way sustainable, since courses such as nursing require mentors in clinical placement, and there aren't enough to accomoate students already. In addition to this, universities do not reach their max limit on places normally anyway due to difficult entry requirements.

This is another blatant attack on the NHS in an effort to devolve and deconstruct a free healthcare system.

We ask you, the general public, to help us to fight back by offering however much you are willing in order to purchase banners for marches, flyers for publicity and various other prints in order to raise awareness. These funds could also be used to fund travel to allow for people from all over the country to amass at London the next time we protest.

United we stand, One NHS.
