Project Tug

Project Tug

To purchase, renovate and preserve an important piece of history. The final goal will be to run charters around the island of Mallorca.

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

THE SECOND SNARK was designed and built in 1938 by Wm Denny and Company at their shipyard on the River Clyde and launched by Patricia; younger daughter of Sir Maurice and Lady Denny for use by the shipyard as a tug / tender. She was also used by the Denny family for summer family outings. Working for the shipyard summer and winter from 1938 to 1963, she was a well regarded vessel on the River Clyde. Ownership transferred to Denny-Brown in 1963 and the vessel became a test platform for the development of ships stabilisers. Later; purchased by Clyde Marine in 1969 she has been operated as a day passenger vessel.

This project's funding will allow for the purchase and complete rennovation back to her former glory.  The interior how ever will be a newly reformed vessel comprising of Guests cabins and bathrooms for up to 8 guests along with crew quaters for a Captain and Chef.

On completion of the refit, the vessel will be re-homed in Palma Mallorca where she will be chartered out as a pleasure vessel around the island. With an estimated launch date of 1st JULY 2018 when supporters of the project will be able to then book their reward trips/days for the summer ahead, enjoying cruises around the island onboard the 'Second Snark' in all her Glory.

Shortly after we reach our much needed goal a website will be created to give a real-time viewing platform of progression of the project including the ability for funders to come visit should they wish.
